sewing classes

Although most people want to learn to sew clothes or soft furnishings, our sewing classes are totally open – you have the freedom to learn to sew anything you want! Taught by Leonie you’ll work alongside no more than 5 other sewing students, and might choose to cover such topics as:

  • Dressmaking
  • Patchwork
  • Quilting
  • Appliqué
  • Free-motion embroidery
  • Cushions
  • Piping
  • Bags
  • Bunting
  • Zips
  • Loose covers
  • Plus lots more…

What might you learn to sew?

Our Facebook page shows you what other students have made. During your course, you might work on:

  • A couple of children’s garments
  • One adult garment (or more, if you’re prepared to do homework between classes)
  • A cushion with a zip, piping and appliqué
  • Alterations to a much-loved garment, if you’ve changed dress-size recently.

You might also want to work on understanding how to measure correctly to fit your shape, learning to read a pattern, or gaining top tips on how to achieve a professional shop-bought finish.

When & how much?

We offer 6-week sewing courses costing £90 (including the use of one sewing machine per student plus an overlocker). Courses run at the following times; once you’ve chosen a day and time, you’ll attend all 6 (or 3) weeks on the same day and at the same time (eg always Monday evenings or Friday afternoons).

How to book our sewing classes

Our classes are always fully booked, so please do plan ahead to avoid disappointment. Student retention is really high and we are currently running a reserve list for ALL sewing classes. The good news is that we are planning an expanded calendar of classes and workshops for Autumn 2018, so do get in touch if you would like to be added to the reserve list. Latest news and last minute availability is also posted on our Facebook page so do LIKE the page so you are kept up to date.

Please read our booking terms & conditions carefully before booking (they’re only short!). Do also check your advance diary, because any money you’ve paid us can’t be refunded if you discover you’re double-booked.

You can choose what to make; just book the dates that suit you and we can discuss what you’d like to learn to sew.

To enquire or book for any of our sewing classes, please call 07525 029986 or email us.
