sewing classes

Although most people want to learn to sew clothes or soft furnishings, our sewing classes are totally open – you have the freedom to learn to sew anything you want! You’ll work alongside no more than 5 other sewing students, and might choose to cover such topics as:

  • Dressmaking
  • Patchwork
  • Quilting
  • Appliqué
  • Free-motion embroidery
  • Cushions
  • Piping
  • Bags
  • Bunting
  • Zips
  • Loose covers
  • Plus lots more…

What might you learn to sew?

Our Facebook page shows you what other students have made. During your course, you might work on:

  • A couple of children’s garments
  • One adult garment (or more, if you’re prepared to do homework between classes)
  • A cushion with a zip, piping and appliqué
  • Alterations to a much-loved garment, if you’ve changed dress-size recently.

You might also want to work on understanding how to measure correctly to fit your shape, learning to read a pattern, or gaining top tips on how to achieve a professional shop-bought finish.
