1 – sewing classes for teenagers

Teenagers are increasingly keen to learn to sew for themselves, and we’re all for learning a new practical skill. So we run sewing classes in the school holidays for teenagers and children aged over 11, in which you’ll make your own cushion with a hidden zip – just choose a fabric you love and we’ll show you how! The cushion you learn to make could decorate your bedroom, or you could give it as a gift (like Mother’s Day).

  • A great way for teenagers to get started with making your own creations
  • Something fun and creative to do in the school holidays
  • Develop your machine skills with our fully computerised sewing machines
  • You’ll get plenty of personal attention, as our sewing classes never exceed 6 learners
  • There’s a friendly, fun atmosphere with lots of patient help
  • You’re welcome to bring your own sewing machine (and sewing kit), but you don’t need to: you can use one of our own brand-new, fully computerised Janome sewing machines
  • Suitable for those aged 11+, or anyone a little younger who is already confident with a sewing machine
  • Please bring your own fabric. When we receive your payment, we’ll send you an information sheet with a handy shopping list.
  • Leonie is fully DBS-checked.

When and how much? This class runs from 9.30am to 12 noon, once every school holiday, and costs £22.50. New dates will be added soon, so please check back. But if you’d like to be added to our mailing list so you know when the next teenager sewing class is, just contact us!

Exam tuition: If you’re studying Textiles or Art & Design for GCSE or A Level, and would like some extra teaching or support with your sewing, Leonie can provide additional tuition by appointment. Please contact us for details.

2 – sewing classes for children

Our adult & child sewing classes offer a great opportunity for a child and a parent to both learn to sew something (instead of a parent, we’ll happily welcome a grandparent, guardian, auntie or uncle!).

  • This sewing class is designed for children at Key Stage 2 (aged 7-11), especially those who’ve been given a sewing machine as a gift
  • 2 sessions are included in the price
  • Small class sizes mean lots of personal attention: the class is for only 3 adults and 3 children
  • Not sure what to make? How about a cushion in the first session, and a make-up bag or pencil case with a zip in the second?
  • Children can bring their own sewing machine from home (if they have one) or we have lovely machines for adults & children to use
  • Please bring your own fabric. When we receive your payment, we’ll send you an information sheet with a handy shopping list.
  • Leonie is fully DBS-checked.

When and how much? £60 per family for 2 sessions. Class dates are currently being planned, so please contact us for more information.
