Choose a small group or private tuition – Learn to sew in a class setting or choose one-to-one private sewing tuition. You’ll learn at your own pace, build your confidence, and sew whatever you want.

Beautiful bespoke studio space– The Sewing Shed is exactly that: now housed in a beautiful converted chapel the studio dedicated to sewing lessons. Modern, bright and airy, it’s a great place to learn to sew.

Wide range of classes and workshops

Sewing– we now offer weekly sewing classes, a Tuesday Sewing Workshop (every third Tuesday in the month) and weekly beginners sewing classes. You can learn anything from dressmaking (including fitting, and adapting patterns) to how to make soft furnishings.  You’ll cover techniques such as patchwork, quilting, appliqué, concealed zips, free-motion embroidery, piping, bags, bunting, and lots more but it is dictated by you. Sewing classes and workshops are mixed ability so you can be inspired with those who started as beginners. Beginners sewing classes are with Becky and you will be nurtured in a group of students who are all beginners.

Curtain & Roman Blind making is taught in a Saturday Workshop.

Upholstery–We offer weekly classes or monthly Sunday workshops in beginners upholstery, where you can expect to upholster a foot stool, drop in seat, piano stool – slightly larger projects can be tackled over two courses or a weekend workshop. It is classed as a beginners as all students are novices and new to upholstery.

Crafts–In addition we also offer the following as workshops on a weekend; crochet, flower arranging, felting and patchwork.

Expert Friendly Tuition – Whether you attend our weekly classes or one of our workshops all tutors have been hand picked for their calibre of qualifications, experience and their approachable teaching style.

"You've saved my sanity! The first day I walked in, I was terrified. You instantly you put me at ease, and very quickly taught me the sewing basics - and, as the weeks went by, the not-so-basics."

"Whatever class/group I'm in, the atmosphere is always wonderful. Lots of friendly banter, and everyone is supportive and encouraging. Leonie is an excellent, patient sewing teacher. I love The Sewing Shed!"

"Thank you Leonie. Thursday is my favourite day of the week. I am completely addicted to sewing (as you know). I love coming to class and I'm so inspired seeing what everyone else is making. A perfect way to spend a morning/afternoon/evening or just all day!"
